Summary: USTR mentioned in its ¡®NTE 2013¡¯ report released on April 1 that USTR will continue to request Korea to further open the market for U.S. beef based on science and OIE rules.  The report commented that current rule of trading beef only from cattle under 30 months of age is a transitional measure that reflected sentiment of the Korean consumers.  Korean government reportedly maintains a position against further opening of the beef market based on a claim that Korean consumers are still concerned about the safety of American beef from cattle of 30 months of age or older.
