Summary: SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) -- The government and ruling Grand National Party (GNP) agreed Friday to work together to pass the long-delayed free trade pact with the United States later this month and to prepare strong safeguards for local industry before endorsing the deal, party officials said. The GNP and the government have been stepping up efforts to get the deal passed by parliament after the U.S. Congress gave it final approval during President Lee Myung-bak's state visit to Washington last week. Opposition parties are against the agreement, however, claiming it favors the U.S.

Gain Terminal Opens in Pyungtaek Port, which will Serve the Market in Chungchung Province [Korean, OSY]

Summary: Dangjin-Goon office of Chungchung province announced on October 21 that a grain terminal had opened in the port of Pyuntaek. Invested by Taeyoung Grain Terminal Co., the terminal will start operating from October 25. The terminal can service two 50,000 metric ton grain cargo vessels at a time and is equipped with 320,000 metric ton grain silos. The grain terminal will mainly service the customers in Chungchung province.
