Leading Retailers Launch Aggressive Sales Promotions for Wine ¡¦ Offer Up to 80 Percent Discount [Korean, OSY]

Summary: Leading retailers in Korea have launched special sales promotions for wine with deep price discounts to attract wine consumers to their stores.  Shinsegae E-Mart plans to sell 200,000 bottles of wine at as much as 80 percent discount price between October 13 through 16.  Other leading hypermarket store chains as well as department store chains have also announced large scale wine sales promotions in October.

U.S. Senate confirms Sung Kim as envoy to Korea [English, CSY]

Summary: WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 (Yonhap) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday confirmed Sung Kim, a career diplomat, as the new U.S. ambassador to South Korea, more than four months after his nomination, officials here said.  The unanimous approval came as South Korea's President Lee Myung-bak is on a state visit here. The U.S. Congress passed a bilateral free trade pact on Wednesday.
